Rules Gaja, S.Kom, Chairman of DPP GNI: A Wake-Up Call to Indonesia’s Political Leadership and Economic Crisis
August 30, 2025
Jakarta – The ongoing unrest among the Indonesian people has reached a boiling point. As the economy weakens, taxes continue to rise, and the purchasing power of the people declines, the frustration is palpable. Members of the DPR RI and the Speaker of the DPR RI have publicly apologized for the chaos sparked by actions that have hurt the heart of the Indonesian public.
The people’s anger has culminated in acts of protest, with reports of citizens storming the homes of representatives, a powerful statement against the political establishment’s failures. In particular, the refusal to pass the crucial law on asset confiscation for corrupt officials and politicians has been a central point of contention.
Rules Gaja, S.Kom, Chairman of the DPP GNI (Generasi Negarawan Indonesia), has called for an urgent re-evaluation of Indonesia’s political landscape. He stressed, “The representatives of the people must be reminded that they are not objects of taxation but the voice of the small people. Our nation’s natural wealth is immense, yet political elites continue to manage these resources with consistent failure, while directors and commissioners enjoy hefty salaries and bonuses. This system is broken, and it is high time we face the reality."
Gaja further addressed the deepening trust crisis within the nation, stating, “Indonesia is facing a crisis of confidence in its future. The people no longer trust their leaders to secure a better tomorrow. The media remains silent, with national television networks failing to report on the struggles of the people or the consequences of corrupt leadership.”
As political tensions rise, there is an urgent call for transparency, accountability, and an immediate restructuring of Indonesia’s approach to governance and the economy.
Gaja concludes: "It is time for the leaders of this country to truly represent the interests of the people, not just the wealthy elite. Our future depends on it."
